Course Objectives

This seminar is given periodically on various subjects related to SLA. It is an intensive and specialized course. Students having completed the course will be conversant with the body of scholarship related to the specific topic of the seminar; will be able to discuss the most recent theories associated with that topic; and will be able to complete additional research on the topic and/or apply the theories and methodologies in the language classroom.


Topical Outline

Topics will vary depending on the specific background of the instructor and/or the interests of the students. Topics might include such matters as language interference, error analysis, current issues in language acquisition, second vs. foreign language instruction, or pedagogical methodologies associated with second language teaching.
