Course Objectives
The chief objective of this course is to provide the student with a practical exposure to administrative experience. The student is placed in a government agency and is exposed to the daily routine of administration. The student is given tasks to perform, problems to analyze, and must write a comprehensive paper on the experience in order to qualify for the MPA degree. In the end, the student is ready for permanent employment with an agency.
Topical Outline
The topics which are covered in this practical work experience necessarily vary with the agency where the student serves the internship. But in any case, the internship begins with an introduction to agency personnel and agency operations. As the internship proceeds, the student encounters and solves more complex tasks. Although the substantive topics vary, the objective is the same: To give the MPA student practical experience before awarding the degree.
