Course Objectives

Students will be exposed to a broad range of current topics in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. External guests invited by the Department will present their latest research, providing students with the opportunity to assess state-of-the-art technology and cutting edge hypotheses. Each semester students will observe and participate in question and answer periods that focus on critical evaluation of presented data and concepts.


Topical Outline

Topics will vary each semester. Speakers will cover such diverse areas as structural biology, bioinformatics, molecular mechanisms, cellular biology and organization development, drug discovery, metabolism, glycobiology, complex carbohydrate synthesis and function, RNA and DNA structure/function, lipid metabolism, cancer biology, parasitology, and other areas relevant to the interests of Department faculty and students.
