Course Objectives
1)To acquire a good knowledge of the history of American higher education. 2)To relate that knowledge to contemporary concerns. 3)To acquire skills that are useful to research and writing in higher education and history.
Topical Outline
The course will be conducted as a topics seminar with students taking active parts. Each session will focus upon discussion and analysis of assigned reading or upon research problems. From time to time, brief supplementary lectures will be given and documentary readings supplied. A substantial portion of the course will be devoted to the research and writing of the paper.
