Student learning Outcomes
Students will be able to develop a self-directed project to create a cohesive body of work that reflects a personal vision as well as technical achievement for the BFA exhibition.
Students will prepare professional development tools including the creation of a professional resume that may be used for job application or graduate school.
Students will be able to engage in intense discussion at studio critiques occurring regularly throughout the semester with both their peers and with the instructor.
Topical Outline
The focus of the course is the body of work for the BFA exhibition.
Requirements with the exhibition work include preparation of an artist statement, a professional resume or CV, preparation of a professional announcement for the exhibition, and a set of labeled images documenting the student's exit work.
Critiques will be used to engage in discussion and the critical thought process evolving around the projects during which students will present a body of information to support their research and the content of the work. Constructive criticism and opposing points of view are encouraged in analyzing the work.
