Course Objectives

Students will develop and execute a field research project under the direction of a faculty member. The project will build upon concepts learned in the Field Course in Coastal Oceanography and Marine Field Methods. At the termination of the course, students will write a report of their findings and present their findings to the faculty and their peers. Evaluation will be based on the student's ability to initiate and carry out the research project, and the quality of the final reort and presentation.


Topical Outline

Students will spend the semester performing research or conducting literature searches under the supervision of a faculty member on an independent project or as part of an ongoing project in the faculty member's laboratory. The specific area of marine science investigated will vary according to the student's interests and the faculty member's research.
