Seminar in Francophone Studies


Course Description

In-depth study of one or several writers, representative of one of the major Francophone areas in the world: North America, Antilles, Africa, Maghreb, and Indian Ocean. Although the primary emphasis will be on literary works, they will be studied in their linguistic and cultural contexts.

Course Objectives

To allow students specializing in francophone cultures and literatures outside hexagonal France, to acquire an in depth knowledge of one author or of a group of writers.


Topical Outline

Topics will vary depending on which area of francophone culture will be studied. Topics for such a course could be: Women writers in Martinique since the Second World War, or it could be a monographic course on one author like Maryse Cond‚.
