Course Objectives

This course surveys higher education outside the United States. Using a wide variety of sources, we will read and gather sources that pertain to universities and higher education in specific nations and illuminate themes that cut across national and regional boundaries. Guest visitors who have taught or studied in universities abroad will enrich the class. The course concentrates heavily on current issues and trends. Students meet individually with instructor at least six times during semester for tutorial sessions to discuss research, papers and reading as it pertains to areas of individual interest.
