Clinical Practicum in Audiology
Course Description
Supervised clinical practice and field experience with pediatric and/or adult clients. Direct involvement in aspects of audiologic services that are within the scope of speech language pathology practice. Education in prevention, identification, and (re)habilitation of audiologic disorders, and discussion of professional issues related to the practice of speech language pathology.

Student learning Outcomes
Students will be able to perform hearing screenings accurately. Students will correctly interpret and analyze findings and make appropriate referrals.
Students will understand prevention activities designed to identify target groups at risk for hearing loss and middle ear disease and participate in prevention activities to identify and eliminate risk factors for the onset, development, or maintenance of a hearing loss; or to improve ability to cope with hearing loss.
Students will understand how to accurately interpret and use data from audiograms/audiologic evaluations in relation to degree of hearing loss and its potential effects upon oral language, written language, speech, and voice.
Students will understand how to perform hearing aid listening checks accurately. Students will be able to use their analysis to make referrals for repair as needed.
