Course Objectives

Independent research and research participation for Honors students in a selected area of Plant Biology. Honors students will gain independent research experience and mentoring by a Plant Biology Department faculty member. Development of skills include critical reading of primary papers, learning and employing the basic elements of experimental design, how to organize and perform experiments, and statistical or other methods of analysis of their results. Extensive oral communication and discussions with colleagues and faculty mentor, ethical behavior, computer literacy, and maintaining accurate and complete written records are expected. Other skills or outcomes will vary with Instructor and the research area.

The course syllabus is a general plan for the course; deviations announced to the class by the instructor may be necessary. Topics depend on faculty mentor.
