Course Objectives
To understand the principles of Anthropometrics, Ergonomics, and Proxemics in relation to the design of furnishings for interior design. To understand appropriate vocabulary, materials, and methods of manufacture for furnishings and cabinetry for interior design. To understand how furnishings and cabinetry interface in the built environment and their affect on design decisions. To understand standard construction methods used in the specification of furnishings and cabinetry in the industry. To understand how construction documentation is applied to the design and fabrication of furnishings and cabinetry. To understand and consider natural resource conservation. To demonstrate understanding of course concepts through examination and/or projects.
