Course Objectives
To gain experience in the design of non-residential interiors of advanced complexity. To understand space planning for multi-purpose design programs of advanced complexity. To build additional skills in design methodologies for interiors of advanced complexity. To demonstrate proficiency in applying the specialized knowledge gained in prerequisite interior design classes by providing a solution to a studio problem. To demonstrate skills in the graphic and verbal presentation of a studio problem of advanced complexity. To understand the principles behind historic preservation and adaptive use projects including relative tax incentives.
Topical Outline
Presentation of project and discussion of a client. Preliminary research and design methodology. a. Generation of interior space programming goals. b. Generation of spatial relationships and design schematics. c. Development of design concept throughout all design phases. Production of design documents and appropriate presentation materials. Verbal presentation.
