Course Objectives
This course is designed to provide graduate art education students with an historical understanding of the development of art education theory and practice. Students will select a particular aspect of art education history and demonstrate the ability to perform historical research.
Topical Outline
Students will develop an understanding of historical inquiry through readings and class discussion and will use this understanding to review and critique existing historical research in art education. A scholarly research paper on a topic of historical significance and particular relevance to the student provides an opportunity for the student to demonstrate the ability to perform historical research.
