Course Description
Introduction to issues and competencies that are central to a commissioned officer's responsiblities. These inital lessons establish a framework for understanding officership, leadership, and Army values. Additionally, the course will address "life skills," including fitness and time management.

Course Objectives
This is an introduction to the United States Army. The course is an overview of the purpose and scope of the Army ROTC program with emphasis on the role of today's Army, officer ship, leadership, and values.
Topical Outline
1. To understand Army values. 2. How to apply communications skills. 3. Summarize and prioritize information succinctly. 4. Implement an individual's total fitness program. 5. Display professional military bearing and appearance. 6. Understand the Army's organization and how the Army runs. 7. Understand the roles and organization of the Department of Defense and Joint operations. 8. Relate the characteristics of a profession to military service as an officer. 9. Identify duties, responsibilities, and authority of commissioned officers, warrant officers, and noncommissioned officers. 10. Identify ways National, Army, and individual values and professional obligations relate to each other. 11. Apply customs, courtesies, and traditions of the service. 12. Integrate military history into education of officers.
