Course Description
Modern microscopical techniques: brightfield, phase, DIC, fluorescence, confocal, scanning tunneling, and scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Related techniques: X-ray microanalysis photomicrography, and image analysis and processing.

Course Objectives
Students are expected to learn the basics light and electron microscopy. This includes not only the theoretical aspects but also some of the practical aspects. Practical hands-on experience with various microscopes, techniques of quantitative image processing and analysis and presentation of images for scientific publication.
