Course Title: | Professionalism in Public Health |
Course Description: | Through a series of professional development exercises, graduate students are exposed to competencies related to communication and professional development. Students are expected to produce resumes, writing assignments, and professional online presence. Students develop an e-portfolio and proposal for the applied practice and integrative learning experiences occurring in the final semester. |

Course Objectives: | 1.) Identify major organizations and institutions of public
health.
2.) Develop professional development skills through exercising
resume building, interviewing techniques, networking, and
presenting.
3.) Develop an online portfolio in which to display their work
throughout their graduate program, such as LinkedIn.
4.) Create and compose proper email communication, scientific
writing, and poster building.
5.) Explore mechanisms for resume building, such as
professional organizations, workshops, organizational
affiliations, conferences, and professional presentations.
6.) Develop an understanding of the broad range of
professional expertise required in public health.
7.) Explore current problems, issues, or areas of need facing
a local, state, national, or international public health
setting of their choice. |
