Course Title: | Applied Research and Consultation in Human Services |
Course Description: | Students will examine the relevance of research to practice and
opportunities for action research, needs assessment, evaluation
research, and consultation within the realm of education and
human services. Students will gain experience in the development
of fundable applied research proposals. |

Course Objectives: | 1. determine the relevance of research to practice in human
service fields, particularly in relation to issues of
accountability and action.
2. identify ways of making practice in human services more
effective through reflective inquiry.
3. identify aspects of research in various human service fields
that have been shown to contribute to effective practice.
4. identify the variety of research purposes and approaches that
may be used to make decisions in and about human services.
5. contribute to an action research plan, an evaluation plan,
and/or a grant proposal. |
