Course Description: | Analysis of major phases of policy development and of various
policy analysis models. Stages of policy development,
implementation, and assessment in current educational reforms

Course Objectives: | The student will:
1. Be able to identify the major phase of policy
development.
2. Gain an understanding of the social construction
of policy problems, and how the categories used
to carry out policy are constructed by policymakers,
the public and others.
3. Understand how policies are implemented across
federal, state, and local levels, including the
major actors and institutions.
4. Reflect on own role as policy analyst, including
consideration of ethics, values, and evidence in
analyzing policies.
5. Conduct an analysis of a particular dimension of
a policy problem. |
