Course Description: | Examines the relationship between ethics, law, public policy, and
current issues in PK-12 education. Focuses on understanding
Georgia and federal codes, case law, policies, and significant
precedent, with emphasis on analysis of key legal and ethical
concepts. |

Course Objectives: | Students will acquire skills and knowledge to:
A. Become familiar with, understand, and apply the Georgia
Code of Ethics for Educators. (PSELS 2)
B. Operate consistently to uphold the federal, state, and
local laws, policies, regulations, and statutory requirements
to provide positive working conditions and to support learning
for every student. (PSELS 2)
C. Communicate policies, laws, regulations, and procedures to
appropriate school stakeholders. (PSELS 2)
D. Manage the supervision and evaluation of staff in
accordance with local, state, and federal requirements for the
purpose of enhancing practice and creating a strong
professional culture of highly performing faculty and staff
(PSELS 6)
E. Embrace the principles of ethical decision making in an
educational context.
F. Develop knowledge of specific regulations and expectations
that teachers and educational leaders face in Georgia. (PSELS 6) |
