Course Description: | An overview of the history, philosophy, principles, and practice of Q methodology, a mixed methods research approach used in the study of subjectivity. Concepts and theories covered include subjectivity theory, concourse theory, abductive logic, and self-reference in the context of understanding people's viewpoints and how they influence behavior. |

Course Objectives: | Students will be able to:
1. Delineate the methodology, methods, and technique of conducting Q research.
2. Explain and apply the core theories and principles of Q methodology: subjectivity theory, concourse theory, abductive logic, and self-reference.
3. Plan, organize, implement, and manage a pilot research study using Q methodology.
4. Apply principles of factor analysis and abductive reasoning to identify and describe one or more subjective viewpoints in a Q study data set.
5. Write a draft Q research study report.
6. Review the Q research literature on a specific topic. |
