Course Objectives: | • Expand and demonstrate knowledge of concepts, principles, and modes of inquiry that are essential to the study of economics.
• Engage with ideas and information about micro- and macro-economics needed to teach in social studies classrooms.
• Practice using economics skills and understandings to prepare lessons for teaching economics in social studies classrooms.
• Interpret and create an economics curriculum that reflects state, local, and national content standards.
• Develop knowledge of instructional materials and methods that reflect creative use of economic concepts and principles for teaching economics in elementary, middle, and high school settings.
• Learn to curate instructional resources for teaching economics through professional organizations and the internet.
• Use knowledge of social, linguistic, and cultural diversity to create an equitable and culturally responsive classroom.
