Course Objectives: | 1. Demonstrate an understanding of aging from various theoretical viewpoints.
2. Apply theories of aging to real life through critical reflection on experiences with older adults in a service-learning context.
3. Discuss relevant issues that older adults face today.
4. Engage in critical reflection regarding the ways in which intersecting identities impact the aging experience.
5. Explore the ways in which one’s own personal context and identity (e.g., life experiences, culture, career plans) may relate to experiences and well-being later in life.
6. Understand development as a life-long process through interactions with older adults in a service-learning context.
7. Examine and discuss the many factors that influence aging, including those related to earlier life experiences, culture, work, socioeconomic status, and the media. |
