Course Description: | Exploration of how technology enhances the experience of aging
from public health perspectives. Includes acceptance,
implementation, ethics, privacy, and policy factors which
influence and shape older adults’ and caregivers’ adoption of
healthcare. Designing and evaluating technology prototypes to
promote health behaviors for aging-in-place. |

Course Objectives: | 1. Examine current and emerging health technologies
2. Explore how such technologies can impact the aging experience
among a range of aging contexts, including healthcare, home use,
and assisted living
3. Analyze the ethical, implementation, acceptance, privacy, and
policy factors which influence and shape older adults’ and
caregivers’ adoption of healthcare technologies
4. Design in interdisciplinary teams a proposed new or
redesigned technology prototype idea to promote health behaviors
for aging-in-place |
