Course Title: | Designing Courses for Significant Learning |
Course Description: | The purpose of this interdisciplinary course is to give
graduate students a foundation in course design, grounded in
strong pedagogical theory. Students will design or redesign a
course in its entirety, beginning with their goals for their
students and working backward through assessment to teaching
and learning activities. |

Course Objectives: | In this course, students will:
• Design or redesign a college-level course in their
discipline from start to finish
• Develop learning goals for their course using Dee
Fink’s Taxonomy for Significant Learning (2004)
• Develop teaching and learning activities to prepare
students for assessment
• Design ways to assess whether students have met those
learning goals
• Reflect on their experiences and observations |
