Course Description: | Students earn credit while working full-time at law offices and
judicial chambers not within travel distance of Athens. |

ten to twelve credits: two credits in a weekly two-hour seminar
session delivered through distance learning technology and eight-
ten credits earned at a law school-approved workplace. |

Course Objectives: | This course has the following expected learning outcomes:
-- students will identify and develop legal skills and abilities
under close supervision of skilled attorneys at law school-
approved workplaces.
-- students will understand, describe, and assess the process of
legal problem-solving as practiced at their workplaces.
-- students will learn about the practice community at their
workplaces, will identify ways to connect what they learn
to their career goals, and will take concrete steps to connect
those goals to their career planning.
-- students will develop and demonstrate skill at professional
reflection and reflective practice. |
Topical Outline: | This course consists of two primary components: 32-40 hours of
work per week by students at a legal workplace selected by the
student and approved by law school faculty and 2 hour per week
in a seminar. The workplace supervisor will enter into an
agreement with the law school to provide students with an
appropriate educational experience. The 2-hour seminar will
focus on topics relevant to the student’s workplace. The seminar
will include materials addressing the internship experience; the
skills and abilities developed by the student at the workplace;
and legal, ethical, and other materials related to that
particular law practice. The seminar will be delivered through
distance learning technology, principally synchronous weekly
meetings between the student and a law school faculty member.
Students earn a total of 10-12 credits by enrolling in this 5-6-
