Course Title: | Introduction to Kinesiology |
Course Description: | An introduction to the field of kinesiology, the study of human
physical activity, including the field’s primary sources of
knowledge and academic sub-disciplines. Students will also be
introduced to the skills and knowledge required to become
successful practitioners, researchers, or teachers in
occupational fields related to kinesiology. |

Course Objectives: | The student who successfully completes this course will be able
to accurately:
1. Describe the process and curricular timeline to complete a
kinesiology degree at UGA
2. Discuss the historical, philosophical, sociological,
psychological, physiological, biomechanical, pedagogical, motor
behavior, and business-related aspects of kinesiology
3. Identify sources of literature related to the study of
kinesiology
4. Discuss the importance of scientific inquiry to professionals
and be able to interpret research results
5. Describe the professional opportunities available to
kinesiology majors
6. Present information on certifications appropriate for
kinesiology majors
7. Be informed of pre-professional organizations directly
related to kinesiology and the study of sport, physical
activity, or both. |
