Course Description: | Designed principally for prospective K-12 music teachers as an introduction to the content and context of music in a multiethnic American society. Also, an introduction to a wide array of musics, along with a developing understanding for how to incorporate them in K-12 music classrooms. |

Course Objectives: | 1. Students will enter into introductory exploration of issues
of multicultural education theories and practices.
2. Students will further expand musical perception and
analytical tools through active listening of non-Western
musics.
3. Students will develop an increased awareness of the
interaction of music with its social and cultural contexts.
4. Students will develop curricular knowledge by creating and
implementing lesson plans that incorporate a diverse selection
of musics and objectives. |
