Course Objectives: | This seminar will examine a body of literature dealing with public budgeting in the
U.S. Although some attention will be given to practices and problems of modern
financial management, the primary emphasis will be on contemporary budgeting
research. Topics from national, state, and local budget systems will be considered.
The course is an extension of PADP6930 in that it considers topics in greater detail
than is possible in the core class. As such, it contributes to our offerings in
public finance and is of particular interest to students specializing in that field.
The course format involves a description of the material by the instructor in the
first half of the class and a discussion of the topic by seminar members in the
second half. |
