Course Title: | Behavioral Intervention Methods |
Course Description: | Behavioral social work is intended to provide the student with
the conceptual foundations of contemporary operant, respondent,
and social learning theories, and a review of behavioral
interventions that have been shown to be effective in the
treatment of specific psychosocial problems. |

Course Objectives: | 1. Students will acquire familiarity with and ability to use the
concepts comprising contemporary behavioral theory, including
respondent, operant, and social learning theories.
2. Students will acquire the ability to assess and conceptualize
particular client problems in terms of social learning theory
variables for a diverse client population.
3. Students will develop the ability to consult and evaluate the
empirically-based practice research literature to aid in the
selection of appropriate interventions.
4. Students will be able to describe empirically supported
procedures used in behavioral social work interventions for
specific clinical problems, and to provide a coherent
theoretical rationale for these methods. |
