Course Objectives: | By the end of the semester, students should be able to:
1) engage in dialogue with classmates and instructor about
situations in the past, present, and future, and use some
colloquial expressions appropriately; sustain an opinion and
engage in "what if" statements;
2) comprehend Spanish spoken by the instructor and classmates,
as well as from video or audio sources;
3) read authentic material from the popular press as well as
a few literary pieces, understand and restate the main points;
4) write about a text that was read or analyzed;
5) learn a) basic concepts of environmental problems that
face Spanish-speaking and other societies; b) issues of
censorship and prejudice; c) a working definition of "culture"
in order to then make cross-cultural comparisons. |
