Entrance Requirements
Students will be provisional majors until they have completed ARST 1050 (or ARST 1050H), ARST 1060, and ARST 1080 (with a grade of C (2.0) or better), and have been accepted into the Graphic Design concentration through portfolio review. Students entering with pre-existing college credit must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5. Completion of Core Areas I-V should be done simultaneously with the completion of the 4-year B.F.A. program. This is a high-demand major. After meeting the entrance requirements, students will be selected based on the following high-demand selection criteria.

High-Demand Major–Selection Criteria
  • Completion of, or concurrent enrollment in, ARST 1050 (or ARST 1050H), ARST 1060, and ARST 1080 with a grade of C (2.0) or better.
  • Completion of ARGD 2010
  • Students may apply for acceptance into the major via portfolio review. Assessment criteria for the portfolio review includes understanding of design principles, execution and craft, design exploration and investigation, and overall organization, curation, and presentation of portfolio.

    A baccalaureate degree program must require at least 21 semester hours of upper division courses in the major field and at least 39 semester hours of upper division work overall.
