BBA REQUIREMENTS (all majors other than AB Economics):

Terry Foundations First Business Core

The Terry College Foundations First Core consists of principles courses from the areas of Business Statistics, Finance, Management, Marketing and Modeling/Optimization. These courses expose students to a variety of issues key to business success, such as globalization, diversity, ethics, and effective communication, as well as issues related to professional and career development. This Foundations First approach provides a platform for a fully integrated business core, as well as a common base of knowledge that students can draw from in completing their upper level courses.

Terry Foundations First Core (15 hours)

*BUSN 4000 may be satisfied by satisfactory completion of (ECON(MARK) 4750/6750 or STAT 4230/6230) and (MATH 2250 or MATH 2200)


Change of Major or Adding a Double Major

Students who are currently enrolled in Terry majors must complete an online application to change majors or add an additional Terry major (double major). Students are only permitted to add or change one major at a time.

Double Major (or Second Major) Graduation Requirements
A Terry College double major is defined as the BBA degree requirements of two different majors within the Terry College, such as Accounting and Finance, and graduating from both majors during the same semester. A Terry College second major is defined as an additional Terry major after the BBA degree from the first major is earned. Both the double and second major require an additional minimum of 21 hours beyond the original BBA for a total of 142 hours (including PE). For example, courses used to satisfy Upper Division General Electives (or other requirements) in the first major may not be used to satisfy Major Required Courses in the additional major.

Curriculum Guidelines for Additional Majors in the Terry College

Accounting: Once an additional major of Accounting is added to a student's academic record, 24 hours of ACCT major coursework will be required. All 4000-5000 level ACCT prefix courses will satisfy the Accounting major only and will not satisfy any Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first Terry major. Also, a non-ACCT course that is satisfying the Accounting Major Related or Major Elective requirement will not satisfy the Major Required, Major Electives, Major Related, or Upper Division General Electives for the first major.

Economics: Once an additional major of Economics is added to a student's academic record, 23 hours of ECON major coursework will be required. All 4000-5000 level ECON prefix courses will satisfy the Economics major only and will not satisfy any Major Electives, Major Related, Upper Division General Electives or Arts and Sciences Electives for the first Terry major. Also, a non-ECON course that is satisfying Economics Major Required, Major Related or Major Elective requirement will not satisfy Major Required, Major Electives, Major Related, Upper Division General Electives or Arts and Sciences Electives for the first major.

Finance: Once an additional major of Finance is added to a student's academic record, 21 hours of FINA major coursework will be required. All 4000-5000 level FINA prefix courses will satisfy the Finance major only and will not satisfy any Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first Terry major. Also, a non-FINA course that is satisfying the Finance Major Related or Major Elective requirement will not satisfy the Major Required, Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first major.

Management: Once an additional major of Management is added to a student's academic record, 21 hours of MGMT major coursework will be required. All 4000-5000 level MGMT prefix courses will satisfy the Management major only and will not satisfy any Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first major. Also, a non-MGMT course that is satisfying the Management Major Related or Major Elective requirement will not satisfy the Major Required, Major Electives, Major Related, or Upper Division General Electives for the first major.

Management Information Systems: Once an additional major of Management Information Systems is added to a student's academic record, 21 hours of MIST major coursework will be required. All 4000-5000 level MIST prefix courses will satisfy the Management Information Systems major only and will not satisfy any Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first Terry major. Also, a non-MIST course that is satisfying the Management Information Systems Major Related or Major Elective requirement will not satisfy the Major Required, Major Electives, Major Related, or Upper Division General Electives for the first major.

Marketing: Once an additional major of Marketing is added to a student's academic record, 21 hours of MARK major coursework will be required. All 4000-5000 level MARK prefix courses will satisfy the Marketing major only and will not satisfy any Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first major. Also, a non-MARK course that is satisfying the Marketing Major Related requirement will not satisfy the Major Required, Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first major.

Real Estate: Once an additional major of Real Estate is added to a student's academic record, 21 hours of REAL major coursework will be required. All 4000-5000 level REAL prefix courses will satisfy the Real Estate major only and will not satisfy any Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first Terry major. Also, a non-REAL course that is satisfying the Real Estate Major Related or Major Electives requirement will not satisfy the Major Required, Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first major.

Risk Management and Insurance: Once an additional major of Risk Management and Insurance is added to a student's academic record, 21 hours of RMIN major coursework will be required. All 4000-5000 level RMIN prefix courses will satisfy the Risk Management and Insurance major only and will not satisfy any Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first major. Also, a non-RMIN course that is satisfying the Risk Management and Insurance Major Related or Major Electives requirement will not satisfy the Major Required, Major Electives, Major Related or Upper Division General Electives for the first major.

Required for a BBA Degree

    Lower Division General Education Core Curriculum Courses (minimum 58-60 hours)
    Upper Division and Major Courses (minimum 60 hours)
    Physical Education (1 hour)
    Total required for a BBA: 120 semester hours plus 1 PE hour.

Terry College Graduation Requirements (including honors equivalencies)


Grade Point Average Requirement


Grades or GPAs of "C" (2.00) or better in the following areas are required for BBA degree certification:
  • ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102 combined
  • All Terry College Major Required coursework
  • Terry Grade Point Average on all Terry prefix courses taken at UGA that are being applied towards the completion of the BBA degree
  • UGA Cumulative GPA
  • UGA Overall Average
Terry Course Challenging

It is at the discretion of each individual Terry College department if a Terry course can be challenged. The student must not be currently enrolled in the course to be challenged, nor have previously completed the course, and be currently enrolled in the University. Students must complete and file an official Course Challenge Form with the Registrar of the University of Georgia.

Based upon the results of the examination, regular grades of A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D, or F are assigned for the challenged course.

Hours earned using course challenges do not count in the determination of full-and part-time status.

Major Requirements

Terry College Major Required coursework must be taken in residence at UGA and be satisfied with a grade of "C" or better. Only with the permission of the major department may three to six hours of major coursework be satisfied away from UGA.

Terry College course prefixes are ACCT, BUSN, ECON, ENTR, FINA, ILAD, INTB, LEGL, MBUS, MARK, MGMT, MIST, REAL, and RMIN.
