Course Description: | Course provides students with an overview of Lean Six Sigma concepts and language and an introduction to the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) process improvement cycle. Successful completion of all elements of this course will result in a UGA Terry College of Business Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. |

Course Objectives: | The objective of the course is to train students in the topic of lean six sigma. Students will apply learning to real-world projects and by doing so achieve certification in Lean Six Sigma at the Green Belt level. After completing this course, students will be able to understand how Lean Methods and Six Sigma are integrated into a single process improvement initiative to achieve higher quality and greater process speed, recognize the five-step DMAIC model used to improve processes, relate Lean Six Sigma concepts to the overall business mission and objectives or the student's past organizations and client, clearly communicate Lean Six Sigma concepts, think about the client as a collection of processes, with inputs that determine the output, and use the concept of a Sigma Level to evaluate the capability of a process or organization. |
