| Course Objectives: | This course, which focuses on money and capital markets, has three objectives for student learning:
1. Students will learn to interpret and assess the importance of money, credit, and interest rates in a financial system in terms of the functions of capital markets.
2. Students will be able to evaluate firms' balance sheets and debt and equity concentrating on market value versus book value.
3. Students will learn to evaluate the myriad of innovative financial instruments that exist between plain-vanilla debt (bonds) and equity (common stock).
The overall objective is for the student to be able to evaluate these important elements of the financial system. |
