Course Objectives: | HRM for a business leader is a central and strategic organizational activity of increasing complexity and importance. After completing this course, students will be able to:
1. Appreciate the importance of HRM as a central management function.
2. Understand the implications for HRM of the behavioral sciences, government regulations, and court decisions.
3. Know the elements of the HR function (e.g., recruitment, selection, training and development, performance management, etc.) and be familiar with each element's key concepts and terminology.
4. Develop a plan to attract, select, and ultimately hire talented employees.
5. Design a comprehensive performance management and appraisal system.
6. Create a systematic training program and the necessary implementation and evaluation tools.
7. Apply the principles and techniques of HRM gained through this course to the discussion of major personnel issues and the solution of typical business problems. |
