This interdisciplinary course gives graduate students a foundation in theory and practice of integrating academic service-learning into course design and instruction. Students will learn best practices for service-learning course design, working with community partners, assessment, reflection, and logistics, and will take part in a service-learning activity.

Description:
This interdisciplinary course will focus on writing a teaching philosophy statement as the core component for creating a teaching portfolio based on the guidelines for the Graduate School’s Teaching Portfolio program.

Nontraditional Format:This course will be taught as a weekly workshop, which will include instructional and peer review/feedback components. Students will develop each section of their Teaching Portfolio with the opportunity for instructor and peer review.
