Apply to the UGA Graduate School and include the following: a) Application form b) Current resume/CV c) Statement of purpose d) Unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended e)Three (3) letters of recommendation, which should be from individuals who can evaluate your scholarly ability and potential for success in a graduate program. f) International applicants are required to submit either their TOEFL or IELTS scores. Although the program recommends at least a 2.5 undergraduate GPA, most applicants greatly exceed that. Those candidates whose undergraduate grades do not represent their future potential should use the essay portions of the application to make their case for admission. Select additional courses, as needed, in consultation with an advisor to meet the minimum number of required credit hours for this program.

Students are encouraged to pursue research opportunities outside of Athens, when appropriate and in consultation with their advisors.

Students are encouraged to pursue internship opportunities when such opportunities facilitate their professional development.

Students are encouraged to present their research at conferences, professional meetings, and symposia. The Dept. Of Language and Literacy Education (and Graduate School) have funds available to defray travel expenses for students who present their research. Students also are encouraged to write grant proposals to help fund their research and to develop grant-writing skills.
