Course Description: | Supervised engineering design experience. Lecture component
will focus on professional and ethical responsibilities,
awareness of contemporary engineering issues, importance of
lifelong learning, and various career paths. |

Course Objectives: | This course mainly provides students with an opportunity to
apply mathematics, science and engineering principles to solve
a meaningful civil engineering design problem that involves
meeting real-world needs while overcoming practical
constraints. Through this experience, students will understand
the necessity of working in multidisciplinary teams and the
importance of developing good communication skills. |
Topical Outline: | This course is designed to provide students with a complete
engineering design experience, including problem definition,
concept development and detailed design with an emphasis on
overcoming real-world constraints. The lecture component of the
course will expose students to (a) their professional and
ethical responsibilities; (b) contemporary engineering issues;
(c) the importance of lifelong learning; and (d) various career
opportunities. |
