Elementary Zulu I
Fundamentals of the Zulu language and culture which has spread to cover communities in South Africa as well as outside of South African borders to the Southern parts of Zimbabwe, and parts of Botswana, Lesotho, and Swaziland. Emphasis will be placed on grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, and conversational skills.

Intensive oral and written training in Zulu, with emphasis on fluent conversation skills and comprehension of literature written in Zulu. The structure of the language will be taught directly and indirectly through written texts and oral assignments, tests, midterm and final exams, and computer-assisted exercises, tests.

A continuation of Intermediate Zulu I. The course will enhance the student's knowledge of Zulu grammar and culture, build on the vocabulary, and intensive knowledge of elementary literature written in the language. It will also help students to understand the interrelationship among language structure, culture, and history of the Zulu speaking people.
