Description of the Program
This certificate is designed to prepare students to meet the evolving health needs of society at large and use health promotion and/or communication skills in an applied manner. The program of study culminates in a capstone course in which students create a public health communication campaign for a community client.

*ADPR 5742/7742 must be taken during the final semester of the certificate. Students should consult the certificate program director regarding prerequisites for this course.

Application Process:
Admission is open to students enrolled in Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication majors who meet the following criteria: completion of 30 hours, including a statistics course (any STAT course, BUSN 3000 or BIOS 2010) and one upper-division (3000-level or above) studies course offered by the Department of Advertising and Public Relations) or to students accepted into the Health Promotion (B.S.H.P.) major. Applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher to apply.

Students applying to the certificate must submit a formal essay explaining their interest in strategic health and risk communication. Application cycles will occur each spring semester. Interested students should contact the program coordinators for more information.
