Minor in Linguistics


Program Description

a) A minor must contain at least 9 hours of upper division course work. b) Courses taken to satisfy Core Areas I through V may not be counted as course work in the minor. c) Courses taken in Core Area VI may be counted as course work in the minor.

A minor in Linguistics provides students with a better understanding of how humans produce and comprehend language, how children and adults acquire a language, how languages vary and change over time, and how speakers use language in different social settings and in different groups.
