An introduction to the creative process working through inspiration, identification, conceptualization, exploration and refinement, definition, communication, and finally production. Throughout the semester, students will articulate, reflect, and apply design concepts and sustainable practices to problem solve real-world challenges that are impacting local businesses or community organizations.

Concentration is placed on the design process, space planning techniques, design/process documentation, hand rendering skills, and presentation techniques.

Techniques for conceptualizing three-dimensional spaces and presentation methods. Topics include hand drafting construction documents, perspective and axonometric drawings, free-hand sketching of three-dimensional spaces, model building, and materials boards. Emphasis on visual and oral presentation skills.
