We do not require a GRE score.  A PhD degree in Cellular Biology is initiated within the University of Georgia’s Integrated Life Sciences program. To complete your application, you will have to submit a Background & Interest Form directly to Integrated Life Sciences. The personal statement section of the form should detail your research experience and career interests. Detailed instructions on how to apply to Integrated Life Sciences can be found on the ILS application page. PhD applications must be received by December 1st for Fall admission of the following year. Admission decisions are made in January.

In addition to the core required courses, additional electives are taken to meet all graduate school requirements for the Ph.D. degree, including: 16 hours of 8000/9000 level course work (exclusive of 6 hrs. doctoral research, independent study courses, and dissertation writing). A minimum 30 hours of course work overall (including 6 hrs. doctoral research and 3 hrs. of dissertation writing). Students that enter the Ph.D. program and hold a BS degree only must take an additional 12 hrs. of graduate coursework only open to graduate students. All Graduate School requirements for a doctoral degree must be completed within a six-year time limit beginning with the first registration for graduate courses listed on the program of study. Department funding will only be provided for a total of six years, after which alternative sources of funding must be found by the student should he or she wish to continue in the doctoral program.
