a) A minor must contain at least 9 hours of upper division course work. b) Courses taken to satisfy Core Areas I through V may not be counted as course work in the minor. c) Courses taken in Core Area VI may be counted as course work in the minor. Art history is the study of art objects and traditions as they record, reflect, and shape the materials, cultures, and ideas around them. Interdisciplinary in nature, Art History complements many areas of study by enhancing critical and creative skills such as attentive looking, analysis, and interpretation, object research and argumentative writing. By introducing students to a diversity of visual languages that communicate human experiences, values, and systems, the Art History minor is useful to fields such as the fine arts, education, design and communication, journalism, digital humanities, museum and gallery work, business, medicine, and law.
