Courses taken to satisfy Core Areas I through V may not be counted as course work in the minor. Courses taken to satisfy Core Area VI may be counted as course work in the minor. A grade of "C" (2.0) or higher must be maintained for all jazz music minor courses.
The Jazz Music minor offers both music majors and non-music majors the opportunity to study the form, harmonic and melodic structure, and history of jazz music. This minor is an excellent way to develop appreciation and skills of the art form while pursuing other areas of study.
Jazz Music minors must complete a minimum of 15 semester hours of course work with at least 9 hours of upper-division course work (3000-5000 level). Only three (3) hours may be transferred in from another institution.
