Social Studies Education BSED



Overview

This program prepares students for a professional four-year certificate in Georgia for teaching secondary social studies in grades 6-12. Requirements and prerequisites in the teaching field should be considered in choosing courses in the first and second years. All prospective teachers should plan their program with their advisor. Students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.8 and earn a C or better in all area VI and professional sequence courses. Students must apply for this restricted major.

The major consists of three semesters of teacher preparation, including one semester of student teaching. Students must select one of the following areas as their major emphasis: economics, history, political science, geography. Applicants must apply for a specific spring semester.
