Overview

African American Studies majors must take AFAM(HIST) 2000 as a part of Area V or Area VI of the general education curriculum. In addition to AFAM(HIST) 2000, students seeking a major in African American Studies must complete 24 credit hours in African American Studies courses for a total of 27 credit hours. Students must choose twelve (12) hours from one area of concentration and six (6) hours from each of the other two areas: History and Culture; Behavioral and Social Inquiry; Languages, Literatures, and the Arts.
