Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences BS

Overview

The Bachelor of Science is an undergraduate degree program that provides students with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences. There are two areas of emphasis to choose from within this major. The Area of Emphasis in Pharmaceutical Sciences is designed to enhance students’ foundational skills in drug development. In addition, students will learn skills and develop competencies in medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetics, drug delivery, and quality control testing. Students completing the Area of Emphasis in the Pharmaceutical Sciences will have career opportunities in drug discovery, drug development, drug manufacturing, and quality control. Students are well prepared for both the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries or graduate programs in areas related to drug discovery and development.

The Area of Emphasis in Biomedical Sciences is designed to enhance students’ foundational skills in the basic biomedical sciences. In addition, students will learn skills and develop competencies in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, immunology and biomedical data science. Students completing the Area of Emphasis in Biomedical Sciences will have career opportunities in pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, and nursing or graduate programs in areas related to the basic biomedical sciences.
