Fashion Merchandising BSFCS

Overview

The Fashion Merchandising major is designed to provide students with an understanding of merchandising related to the apparel and textile industries. The program emphasizes the skills and competencies needed for careers in fashion promotion, buying, retailing, merchandising, product development, and global supply chain management. Students learn that fashion is not simply a business, but a cultural industry. Students choose between two emphases areas both focused on understanding the fashion target market. The Fashion Brand Management Emphasis hones expertise in both creative and analytical aspects of merchandising, buying, retail and branding decisions. The Product Development and Design Emphasis demonstrates that inspiration and design concepts drive the creation of garments and apparel products for the end customer.

The curriculum puts special emphasis on entrepreneurship, fashion promotion, visual merchandising, product development, retail buying and planning, as well as global sourcing.
