Dance AB

Overview

The Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) in Dance is a liberal arts degree grounded in a variety of dance styles, performance and choreography, and avenues that employ dance as a vehicle for exploring creative processes, musical forms, the history of dance in world cultures, the dance sciences, and dance education theory and practice, and more. The curriculum enables dancers to explore the scientific, aesthetic, theoretical and historical foundations of dance and understand and apply dance knowledge in interdisciplinary contexts.

Students will develop a broad range of skills in multiple dance techniques, as well as choreographic and improvisational approaches. They will also gain experiences in performance, technical production, and teaching. An audition is required for the dance major. An in-depth description of the program is available from the department at https://dance.uga.edu/.
